Hadi Sumoro

Hadi is the principal consultant of HX Audio Lab. He has provided design and consultation for professional audio industry since 2007. As an acoustical  consultant, he has been responsible for various acoustical projects all over the world. He earned a degree in Audio Sciences (Acoustical Study) at Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University under the guidance of Neil Shade.

Upon graduation, Hadi worked in Community Professional Loudspeakers as Technical Application Engineer and  Senior Measurement Technician for almost eight years. He provided over 500 sound system design proposals (utilizing EASE) for various venues such as arenas, house of worships, restaurants, paging system, etc. In 2011, he helped Community to setup and run a newly designed indoor measurement lab, including writing post processing program/procedures of creating correction filters and data format conversion. He was in charge of Community's loudspeaker measurement database (CLF, SPK and GLL) and voicing library. In loudspeaker R&D, Hadi helped to develop filters (IIR and FIR) to optimize directivity, minimize horn resonances and improve sound reproduction quality for multi-way loudspeaker systems. He was also involved in engineering work such as optimizing box volume, port tuning, EN54 certification, etc.

As an audio engineer and musician, Hadi has a strong interest in studio monitor design. In 2018, he introduced his first commercial two way biamp studio monitor, called type F22A. Type F22A loudspeaker utilizes  hybrid IIR and FIR filters processing for each transducer, creating an absolute transparent and high fidelity studio monitor. Previously, Hadi also developed another high end monitor called type E33A and several other high end monitor prototypes. His other works in loudspeaker design also includes research and development in line array, scale model, horn design, horn loaded multi way system, etc. In the world of loudspeaker measurement and design, Hadi utilizes many tools such as Bassbox Pro, Systune, EASERA, Filter Hose, ARTA, TEF, LEAP and many other in-house post processing programs.

Hadi published two books in Indonesian language about introduction of acoustics as a technical field (2008) and loudspeaker measurements (2012). His online articles can be found in prosoundweb.com, prosoundtraining.com and also under the publications tab in this website. Hadi also teaches audio production courses at Temple University, Philadelphia PA and various seminars/private trainings held locally or internationally.

Lastly, Hadi is a Jazz musician, plays Piano and Hammond Organ. His styles include Jazz, Blues, Funk, Pop/Rock and also Jazz-Fusion. He is the keyboard player for New Pony Funk band (Funk, Soul and New Orleans).

Xian Yu, CTS

Xian is a graduate from Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, receiving M.A. in Acoustics (2009). She is the recipient of school scholarship and the Robert Bradford Newman Medal awarded by the Acoustical Society of America (Merit in Architectural Acoustics).

Xian is the founding partner of HX Audio Lab. With excellent mathematics and computer programming skill, Xian has developed several audio and acoustic software such as Sound Sprinkles, Sound Bubble, Sound Splash and Filter Hose.

Working six years as Technical Application Engineer at Community Professional Loudspeakers,
Xian has worked on more than 700 projects, including sport venue, house of worship, auditorium, convention center, etc. Most well-known projects are Arena de Sao Paulo, Arena Amazonia and Mineirao Stadium, three of the 2014 FIFA World Cup stadiums in Brazil.

Xian is currently a Senior Acoustic Software Engineer at Biamp Systems. She develops highly specialized algorithms for loudspeaker optimization and sound system design optimization.

Supported with Xian's B.E. in Recording Engineering from the Communication University of China (2007), Xian also works as an audio engineer. Her previous works include radio programs, video game sound effects, sound design for films and vocal tuning. She has provided acoustical design and consultation for studio construction in China.
