Hadi Sumoro
Hadi is the principal consultant of HX Audio Lab. He has provided design and consultation for the professional audio industry since 2007. He has been responsible for various acoustic projects worldwide. He earned a degree in Audio Sciences (Acoustical Study) at Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University under the guidance of Neil Shade.
Upon graduation, Hadi worked in Community Professional Loudspeakers as a Technical Application Engineer and Senior Measurement Technician for almost eight years. He provided over 500 sound system design proposals (utilizing EASE) for venues such as arenas, houses of worship, restaurants, paging systems, etc. In 2011, he helped the Community set up and ran a newly designed indoor measurement lab, including writing post-processing programs/procedures for creating correction filters and data format conversion. He oversaw the Community's loudspeaker measurement database (CLF, SPK, and GLL) and voicing library. In loudspeaker R&D, Hadi helped to develop filters (IIR and FIR) to optimize directivity, minimize horn resonances, and improve sound reproduction quality for multi-way loudspeaker systems. He was also involved in engineering work such as optimizing box volume, port tuning, EN54 certification, etc.
As an audio engineer and musician, Hadi is interested in studio monitor design. In 2018, he introduced his first commercial two-way bi-amp studio monitor, type F22A. Type F22A loudspeaker utilizes hybrid IIR and FIR filter processing for each transducer, creating a transparent and high-fidelity studio monitor. Previously, Hadi also developed another high-end monitor called type E33A and several other high-end monitor prototypes. His other works in loudspeaker design include research and development in a line array, scale model, horn design, horn-loaded multi-way system, etc. In loudspeaker measurement and design, Hadi utilizes tools such as Bassbox Pro, Systune, EASERA, Filter Hose, ARTA, TEF, LEAP, and many other in-house post-processing programs.
Hadi published two books in the Indonesian language about the introduction of acoustics as a technical field (2008) and loudspeaker measurements (2012). His online articles can be found on prosoundweb.com, prosoundtraining.com, and under the publications tab. Hadi also taught audio production courses at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, and various seminars/private training held locally or internationally.
Lastly, Hadi is a Jazz musician who plays Piano and Hammond Organ. His styles include Jazz, Blues, Funk, Pop/Rock, and Jazz-Fusion. He is the keyboard player for the New Pony Funk band (Funk, Soul, and New Orleans).
Formal Educations:
Master's Degree in Audio Sciences
Concentration: Acoustical Study
Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, 2007
Bachelor's Degree in Music
Jazz Composition and Music Production and Engineering
Berklee College of Music, 2005
